iPhone 6 Plus

As they say. The best camera you have is always the one you carry with you.
But, as much as I have been an iPhone fan since it came out, the iPhone 6 Plus is where I noticed a reasonable jump in quality.

Apple claims the photos that the phone takes are a blend of lens and software technology. So I assume a fair part of the quality of these photos comes from the ios itself. Apple has also added something it calls ‘Focus Pixels’ to the camera to help with speedy focusing. Otherwise known as phase-detection AF, it has been available on DSLRs and compact cameras for years and is also the same tech that the Galaxy5 uses to help it focus quickly. This helps by dramatically reducing photos’ blurriness.

Either way. Whatever recipe they found, it seems to work quite well. It does not come as a surprise that Apple is recognized as the most profitable and advanced camera manufacturer in the world, nowadays.

The resolution of the images, 8 megapixels, 3264×2448 pixels max, is something that does make a difference to daily photography, especially when re-composing the shot in post.

I tend to always shoot in HDR mode. Rarely using the flash, if at all. The flash is probably the only part of this setup which lacks behind. But, hey, we are still talking about a phone.

A few of the photos on this site are from an iPhone 6 original.
